In March, 2009 The Greenbrier Hotel Corporation (GHC), owner of the resort announced that it sought bankruptcy protection to help ensure the viability of the resort.
Also, GHC announced that it has signed an Asset Purchase Agreement with Marriott Hotel Services, Inc. for the sale of The Greenbrier, subject to substantial conditions. Subsequently in May 2009, the bankruptcy and purchase by Marriott were stopped when The Greenbrier was purchased by the Justice Family Group.
