  • The original Delmonico's restaurant (a wine and pastry shop), burned down in the Great Fire of New York in 1835.
  • The Delmonico brothers acquired the site and erected a four-story building.
  • In 1890, the Delmonico's replaced that building with the current eight-story building.
  • Chicken à la King, Lobster Newberg and Eggs Benedict were invented at Delmonico's.
