And Now You Know

  • "Before it was known as Fraunces Tavern, the business was known as the Queen's Head—a name that reflected the anti-crown sentiment of the inn's owner Samuel Fraunces. Founded in 1762, the inn later became known as Sam Fraunces' House and, by the 1770s, was known as Fraunces' Tavern." (From http://bit.ly/aXdAS4 ). This tavern was a frequent dining and drinking spot for George Washington.
