"Before it was known as Fraunces Tavern, the business was known as the Queen's Head—a name that reflected the anti-crown sentiment of the inn's owner Samuel Fraunces. Founded in 1762, the inn later became known as Sam Fraunces' House and, by the 1770s, was known as Fraunces' Tavern." (From
