The Coogee Palace opened in 1878. It was a seaside resort housing an indoor swimming pool, aquarium and great hall. A dome structure topped the original building and remains today, albeit rebuilt following storm damage in 1984. It converted into restaurants and bars during the 1990s. (From Daily Telegraph)
