Staplehouse is a for-profit subsidiary of the Giving Kitchen, a nonprofit organization. All of the restaurant’s profits after payroll and taxes go to this charity.

The idea for Staplehouse came from Chef Ryan Hidinger (Hidi) and his wife Jennifer. From 2009 to 2012 they held a series of underground suppers (Prelude to Staplehouse) in their home. In December 2012 Hidi was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer and he died early in January 2014. (See AJC.com).
