Originally, there was the Petroleum Club and the City Club of New Orleans, a few blocks away. After the Petroleum was sold, the “City” of the City Club (1525 St. Charles Street) and the “Energy” of the Petroleum Club (1100 Poydras Street) were taken to form the City Energy Club, which continued to operate out of the two locations until New Year’s Eve 1997. At that time, it moved under one roof — at the location of the old Petroleum Club.
