  • In August 2010 BLT Restaurant Group filed a lawsuit against the owners of LT Burger (Chef Laurent Tourondel, developed BLT Steak and BLT Burger restaurants) alleging they copied the details of BLT. In November 2012 the parties reached an agreement and the suit was dismissed. (See Bloomberg.) The three-year-old litigation between chef Laurent Tourondel and his former business partner, Jimmy Haber ended with a licensing agreement that gives each of them access to the BLT restaurant brand they developed together. The rights to the brand, which stands for Bistro Laurent Tourondel, were awarded in court to the chef last year. Now Mr. Haber has agreed to pay Mr. Tourondel a fee each time he opens a new BLT. The chef may also be involved in some of those restaurants, said Mr. Haber.(See Crain's)
