- Garner Quain was the inventor of the 'musselcam'—a tonge-in-cheek poke at webcams—to monitor the growth of a lone mussel. In 2007, Quain's musselcam was rated one of the world's top 25 most interesting webcams.
- Garner Quain was among a group of chefs invited to write for Jill Lambert's book "A Good Catch" for David Suzuki.
- Garner Quain and flex mussels were featured in a 2007 PEI food review by New York Times restaurant ciritic Frank Bruni. During Mr. Bruni's visit to flex, Quain had the opportunity to shuck both oysters and raw mussels (!) with Mr. Bruni.
