Joyce's passion for cooking began in Baltimore, MD alongside her mother in the kitchen from a very young age. Out of high school, Joyce was given the chance to work with Executive Chef Steve Bohlman of The Polo Grill. It was there that she realized that this was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She left her music degree behind to pursue a degree in cooking from Baltimore International College. After completing a few semesters, she was given her first Sous Chef role in the Inner Harbor.
In 2002, she moved to New York to pursue and explore her love of cooking. Soon after she was given a position at Rosa Mexicano and was introduced to Mexican cuisine. She fell in love with the bright, bold flavors. After the birth of her 2nd son, she decided to take a step back to balance kids and career and became involved with Michelin starred Dressler, DuMont and DuMont Burger in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as the Chef de Cuisine alongside Polo Dobkin. Now she has taken center stage |
