Mary Stanley first discovered food when she traveled to Germany with her father in fifth grade. Her taste buds were tickled by Schiller Locks and whole grains breads. Her first cookbook was purchased shortly thereafter, a McCall's Cookbook with a green cover containing Deviled Eggs Divan, Orange Braised Pork Chops, Baked Brussel Sprouts Au Gratin, Beef in Burgundy with Gnocchi, Marzipan Stuffed Apricots, Beignets, Caramel Creme Brulee. She cut a deal with Mom to cook if Mom washed. Mom agreed. Sometime LATER she found herself in Austin, Texas needing a job. First she worked for Swedish Hill and then Texas French Bread. Then she opened Classic Cakes in West Lake Hills just in time for the Savings In Loan debacle. A couple of decade later she found herself the owner of some historical property in downtown Brownwood, Texas. What to do, what to do? Oh, I know, open a restaurant, then open a Gelateria and then open a wine bar. You've got to be kidding me! Where? Central Texas!
